Our Mission Statement

BoyZone and GirlZone are overnight camps operated by Oorah, a Jewish outreach organization. Each camp operates during a separate session on the same resort campsite in Gilboa, NY, which provides a full range of recreational and resort amenities. Campers are housed in air-conditioned motel-style rooms.

Oorah’s camps are designed to give Jewish children and teens an exciting and enriching summer filled with non-stop activities, trips and events. At the same time, it offers a rich Jewish experience with warm, spirited Shabbat meals, services and activities as well as a wide range of individualized learning opportunities for children interested in beginning or improving their mastery of Hebrew, or in learning about Jewish traditions and values.

Oorah counts its staff as its camps’ biggest asset. Each staff member is chosen for his or her warmth and enthusiasm. With a 1:2 staff-to-camper ratio, staff members are able to adopt a “Big Brother” or “Big Sister” role and create warm bonds that often extend into the school year. Personal, social, spiritual and emotional growth is the agenda at Oorah’s camps, but an incredible good time is the reason campers keep coming back.
